No Needle, No Scalpel — Really.

For men seeking a vasectomy surgeon, the Philadelphia Center for Sexual Medicine is the place for an expertly performed vasectomy with virtually no pain. We offer a calm and relaxed atmosphere where only an expert will perform your procedure, taking all the time necessary to ensure your comfort and relaxation. Dr. Gittens performs a specialized minimally invasive no-needle, no-scalpel technique, which results in better pain control and fewer complications than the conventional vasectomy.

The vasectomy is an in-office procedure that is performed by separating the two tubes (vas deferens) on both sides of your scrotum responsible for sperm delivery. It should be considered a permanent form of contraception, although a vasectomy reversal can be performed successfully if necessary.

The most effective form of birth control

While vasectomy is indeed the most effective form of birth control short of abstinence, it does not produce immediate sterility. It takes several weeks for patients to become sterile and this must be confirmed with two semen analyses before to stopping alternative birth control methods.

Recovery

Patients are asked to return home upon discharge and avoid strenuous activity for 48 hours. Use an ice pack 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off while relaxing in bed or on your couch for 36-48 hours. Expect mild bruising and swelling but pain should be minimal and easily controlled with Tylenol. Most men can resume gentle sexual activity, work and exercise within 48 hours.
