Botulinum neurotoxin  (BoNT), is a recognized therapeutic agent used for a number of medical conditions such has migraines, strabismus (crossed eyes) and spasms.  It has also been used for cosmetic purposes to reduce wrinkles and fine lines in men and women for cosmetic purposes. BoNT works by blocking  the signal of how nerves communicate with its neighboring muscle resulting in paralysis. This blocking causes less tension in those with migraines or relaxing the muscles leading to straightening of an eye, and reduced movement of the face which results in less wrinkles. Botulinum toxins are sold under several different brands Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin® and Myobloc® and each have several different indications.

BoNT is not FDA approved for any urological condition and most studies are small in number, nevertheless BoNT has shown promise in urology and  sexual medicine.  BoNT has been shown to help with premature ejaculation, testicular pain, penile retraction or hard flaccid syndrome, tight scrotums (Scrotox), enlargement  and erectile dysfunction.
